When everyone heard Kim Sepesi (yeah I know she got married to a Severance recently) say she wasn’t going to run for re-election. The Knox County Commission Vice Chairman known as Robert Lawrence Smith announced that he would be a (I mean ‘THE’ School Board Member for the Seventh District)

A couple a folks had already been thinking about it. Zachary Wishart, a local Realtor and another Realtor Danny Kirby. Kirby can’t decide between School Board and County Commission as he picked up both petitions. But since Robert Lawrence picked up. Retired or Retiring Brickey McClound Beloved Teacher Patti Lou Bounds and NOW Republican Activist, Successful Business Entrepreneur Andrew Graybeal has picked up a petition.

The E.W. Scripps employed Publisher of one of their free weekly bird cage liner The Shopper has written about how Smith is the heir apparent. She and one of her contracted writers even had a disagreement over at the local liberal playground aka KnoxViews about Smith’s descent to a school board position. The Publisher opined something to the likes of you can’t beat somebody with no body or some resemblance of such a statement.

It appears that Robert Lawrence will have several opponents and unlike some school of thoughts (I believe anyone can win) but all of these candidates are known to be viable candidates. Robert Lawrence has NEVER been on the ballot in Powell. At least 40-45% of the school board district includes Powell. Unlike in previous primary campaigns where less than a majority won him the Republican candidacy. With this race if no one receives 50% plus 1 vote. The top two then run off head to head. This race appears to be a tough road for Robert Lawrence. But time will tell, February 20th is the deadline to submit a petition. So there could be more candidates, for political junkies this is gonna be fun to watch.
