Former Tennessee State Representative Kent Calfee represented House District 32 from 2012–2022. Before serving in the Tennessee General Assembly, Calfee spent 20 years on the Roane County Commission, building a long record of public service to Roane County and East Tennessee.
Now, a one-mile stretch of U.S. Highway 70 in Roane County has officially been designated the “Kent Calfee Highway” in his honor. The stretch is especially meaningful because it runs through the area where Calfee grew up. The Tennessee General Assembly designated the section from mile marker 25.8 to 26.8 in recognition of Calfee’s service.
Tennessee State Senator Ken Yager made the presentation, standing alongside Kent and Marilyn Calfee and former Roane County Sheriff Jack Stockton, the Republican candidate for Tennessee State Representative, District 32. Tennessee State Representative Lowell Russell was also present for the special occasion.
A fitting tribute to a man whose public service has been closely connected to the community he has called home.
Attending the dedication included; Lenoir City Mayor Tony Aikens, Lenoir City Councilman James Brandon, Roane County Sheriff Tim Phillips, Roane County Chief Deputy Sheriff Tim Hawn, District Attorney Russell Johnson, Public Defender Kim Nelson, Roane County Clerk Keaton Bowman, Director of Roane County Schools Russell Jenkins, former Roane County Property Assessor Teresa Kirkham, in addition to many local business people, friends and family members.
Republican State Representative candidate Jack Stockton (District 32), and Rep. Lowell Russell (District 21) are on the ballot Election Day: November 3, 2026 • Early Voting: October 14–29, 2026
