Today was the third Knox County Elections 101! It is a three and hour hour course by the staff of the Knox County Election Commission. Director of Elections Chris Davis and Deputy Director of Elections Deborah Tidwell along with about eight or ten other staff take turns explaining all things Knox County, TN Elections.

Did I learn anything new? Yep, I learned that the absentee ballots can be emailed to military members, of course they can’t email them back. They must print, mark the ballot and mail it back. But at least the postal delay in receiving it is reduced.

There are 25-48 licensed nursing home facilities where absentee voting can occur with one Republican and one Democrat will go in Knox County to vote their ballots.

Knox County jail inmates can cast ballots with Election Commission staff, provided they are not a convicted felon. The inmate must supply a postage stamp for it to be mailed (state law).

I was one of four correct quiz respondents, there were two Chickfila gift cards (purchased by Director Davis) I was one of the two winners. So I highly recommend you attend and try to win a gift card.
