When Mayor Glenn Jacobs began as Knox County Mayor September 1, 2018 he placed Paul White as Director of Parks and Recreation. Last Fall the Mayor placed Shauna Godlevsky as Interim Director and today Joe Mack begins as third leadership in less than 3 years.

I asked if Mack was assigned or hired, Abbey HarrisĀ of the Mayor’s Communication team said all executive employees are selected and serve at the discretion of the Mayor.

I asked if Godlevsky would revert back to her previous position and salary. I was informed that she is scheduled to leave at the end of the month and will maintain her current grade and salary until then.

I have asked some follow up questions about the executive recruiting firm utilized for the vetting of the Parks Director and how much the firm cost.

In other unrelated news, I have been told longtime former Parks Director Doug Batielle is back in East TN. When he was not retained by Jacobs. He relocated to Florida, but is apparently back.
