Back in 2008, Black Wednesday County Commissioner Phil Ballard was elected to the position of Knox County Property Assessor. He was re-elected in 2012. He is term limited and ineligible to run in 2016. Several names are beginning to circulate as potential 2016 candidates. Names I have heard are (in no particular order) Former Property Assessor John Whitehead, Republican Activist Andrew Graybeal, Certified Appraiser and Instructional Appraiser Claude Weems, III and of course Craig Leuthold who joined the Assessors Office the day after Labor Day 2014 (yes, this year).

Much of the information about the Assessors office has not been transparent. We exposed earlier this year, allegedly forged time cards, employees on leave receiving pay during times they had not swiped their access card to gain entrance to the City County Building.

With Leuthold’s hiring a couple months ago at a rumored $50,000 salary. A source of BrianHornback.Com obtained the annual pay for the Property Assessors office. So we list this public information in an attempt to educate the public about the operation of the Property Assessors Office.
