Knox County School Board Selects New Chair and Vice Chair

During last night’s Knox County School Board new leadership was selected, along political party lines. The Chair is former Vice Chair and Sixth District School Board Member Betsy Henderson, a Republican. Henderson and Knox County Commission Chairlady Terry Hill are from same district, different legislative bodies.

The Vice Chair was between Third District Daniel Watson and Seventh District Steve Triplett, a Republican who was elected last year to the board. Triplett was selected in a party line vote of 5 -3 with Jennifer Owen passing.

Watson and Knox County Commission Vice Chair Gina Oster serve same district, different legislative bodies. With Watson as Vice Chair it would have mirrored the leadership and districts of Commission. Apparently, ain’t no one wanting that.
