Knox County School Board met for about two and half hours talking through the process, the qualities for the next Superintendent of Schools and the process. The TN School Boards Association is advertising and will cull the applicant pool from however many apply down to a kid sized pool of up to 5 candidates for the Board to interview and ultimately presumably hire.

They decided in the solicitation to publish the current Superintendent salary which is in the $215,00’ish range and will say it is negotiable. The comment was made that the current Superintendent asked for a significantly less salary than the Director before him. It should have been noted (but wasn’t) that the previous Director had a Doctorate and Thomas did not, although a board member after hiring Thomas called him Dr. Thomas. So, presumably, the indication from the discussion tonight is they are prepared and willing to pay $215,000 up to any negotiable rate.
