Knox County’s Eighth District is Desperately Seeking Representation

Yesterday at the Knox County Commission meeting, Corryton community property owner Adam Thompson spoke on Public Forum about Knox County Mayor appointments to the Knox Planning Commission. Thompson was asking Commissioners for help in persuading the Mayor for a Representative from the Eighth District.

Interesting enough, Eighth District Commissioner Richie Beeler (also Chief Deputy County Clerk) was absent from the meeting and the zoning meeting yesterday. Eighth District School Board Member Mike McMillan has a history of missed School Board meetings.

Both the Knox County Commission and School Board positions in the Eighth District are up in 2024. Beeler is believed to not be running, DJ Corcoran has announced for Commission. Tommy Lakins has announced for School Board, McMillan has not announced his 2024 intent as of this post.
