This story from WVLT, a dad stops a bus because (as the story reports) his daughter in order to escape abuse got off the bus sooner than her stop. Students who ride the bus are still the responsibility of the schools. Knox Schools Transportation Director Dillingham needs to ensure kids are protected.

Knox Sheriff personnel (according to the Dad in the story) was instructed to stop the bus until they could get there. If that is true then the father did not unlawfully detain anyone.

Both agencies must address the situation and protect students.
