Sources indicate that Knox County Commission Chair Larsen Jay and City of Knoxville officials authorized the PBA (Public Building Authority) to spend $18,000 to install plastic barriers in the City County Buildings  Main Assembly Room.

PBA contracted with Shelton General Contractors of Blaine, TN $5,900 for 236 hours to install plastic barriers at 43 stations, paid $1,200 for 40 hours for a foreman and $5,900.00 for the material and $1,486.00 for a 9% margin.

The project could start on 10/19/2020 and the expectation was to be completed in 30 days. As we saw on November 16, 2020 when County Commission met in person, it was completed. However, the County Commission with adequate barriers still met in work session last night virtually.
