Mega Bullhorn of Truth Strikes Again: Register of Deeds Scrambles All Morning to Set the Record Straight on Parrish Plat Map Mix-Up

Any lingering doubt that The Mega Bullhorn of Truth isn’t being read at the highest levels of Knox County government is officially out the window. This morning’s post about the BZA hearing on case 25-Z0080 – where misinformation was floated suggesting the Register of Deeds office had handed Mrs. Parrish the “wrong” plat map – had the Register’s office hopping like a cat on a hot tin roof.

I wrapped up my day job at 4:20 pm sharp and headed straight to the East Tennessee History Center for the much-anticipated book launch of Ray Hill’s Senator Kenneth McKellar: Feudin’ Son of Tennessee. Great event, fantastic turnout, and a reminder of how Tennessee’s political giants used to fight for their constituents without apology. Got home around 7:20 pm to find my inbox lit up with not one, but two clarifying emails from the Register of Deeds himself – proof positive that when The Mega Bullhorn sounds off, people listen… and fast.

First up, at 10:50 am, an email straight from the third Register of the last 45 years, Mr. Hornback:

Then, at 12:22 pm, I was copied on a full email thread that started with the current two-term, seven-year Register reaching out to the entire BZA Board at 11:22 am:

Just 21 minutes later, at 11:43 am, Steve Elliott from Engineering and Public Works jumped in to clear the air:

Let me pause right there to give a well-deserved shout-out to Jim Snowden and Steve Elliott. Under their leadership, Engineering & Public Works has become the most professional, least political department in the county – a complete 180-degree turnaround from the previous director. These are two fine public servants who are simply trying to help a Knox County family rebuild after the total loss of their home. Anyone suggesting otherwise is probably, as Congressman Tim Burchett likes to say, “still living in their Momma’s basement while she heats up the Hot Pockets.”

Bottom line: No mistake at the Register of Deeds. Mrs. Parrish never visited the office for a plat. She relied on the dimensions listed on her tax records – which, let’s be honest, a lot of folks would do in her shoes.

I will keep pushing until Mrs. Parrish and her family are made whole and back on the other side of this nightmare.

And to the Register of Deeds: Thanks for the quick clarification. As always, any issues – you know exactly where to find me. Also, I am still fielding any tips on Register of Deeds, forty five years, current term limited 8 years, previous before that 10 years and the one that taught the two 27 years. It’s time for fresh new ideas.

The Mega Bullhorn of Truth – Because somebody has to blow it loud and clear.
