State Rep. Michele Carringer, R-Knoxville, congratulated Zach Wishart, an administrator at River’s Edge Christian Academy, on his appointment to serve on the Advisory Council for the Education of Students with Disabilities.

Gov. Bill Lee appointed Wishart to serve as a representative of Tennessee private schools and work with council members to advise the state on any unmet needs to ensure student success.

“Zach has been bold and unwavering in his commitment to ensuring that every student, including students with disabilities, has access to a high-quality education, regardless of their family’s income or zip code,” Carringer said. “He understands that students with disabilities have unique needs and deserve an education system that puts their success first. I know he will be a strong advocate for students with disabilities and their families on the council.”

Wishart holds a special education teacher license and currently serves as the Middle and High School Principal at River’s Edge Christian Academy.

“I am honored to be appointed by Gov. Lee to serve on the Advisory Council for the Education of Students with Disabilities,” Wishart said. “Every child is made in the image of God and is worthy of a high-quality education. We have a responsibility to ensure that students with disabilities are given every opportunity to flourish and that families have a meaningful voice in the education of their children. I am excited to serve students and families across Tennessee in this new capacity.”

His term officially began on July 1 and will continue through the next three years, ending on June 5, 2029.

Michele Carringer represents District 16 in the Tennessee House of Representatives which includes part of Knox County.
