Patrick Richmond, interim Eighth District School Board Member attempted to postpone for 30 days action on Superintendent McIntyre’s research concerning Carter Elementary School. Knox County Commission asked the Superintendent to perform due diligence. Thirty days Richmond will not be on the board, 8 members of County Commission will no longer serve. In addition to Richmond, Sam Anderson, Dan Murphy, Rex Stooksbury and Robert Bratton will not be serving on the School Board. After a brief recess, School Board Chair Indya Kincannon and Superintendent McIntyre declared this item an emergency item due to the change in school board and County Commission turnover. I concur with the decision made by McIntyre and Kincannon.

Conley Underwood, spoke passionately about the students that need a new school. Eighth District School Board Member Elect Mike McMillan asked for the delay and publicly stated that he disagreed with the Chair and Superintendent’s decision.
