Congressman John J. Duncan, Jr.’s opponent has returned a survey to a pro family organization. In the area of education, he listed University of Tennessee, Knoxville 1998. To most people this would be an indication that he graduated in 1998. Right? Apparently not, this morning the Congressman’s opponent was a guest on a local talk show and when asked about his degree, he admitted that he does not have a degree.

Search for jobs on any job search engine and see how many ask for the minimum of a higher education degree. It is kinda easy when all you have to do is go on your dad’s payroll, wonder how that interview went? Let’s look at Congressman Duncan’s background before becoming a Congressman in 1988.

Duncan after graduating the public school system in Knoxville, earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree in 1969. Duncan then attended the George Washington University National Law Center in Washington, D.C., where he earned a law degree in 1973. Congressman Duncan served in the United States Army National Guard and the Army Reserve. Entering the service as an enlisted man in 1970, Congressman Duncan rose to the rank of Captain before completing his service in 1987. In 1973, Congressman Duncan established a private law practice in Knoxville with Zane Daniel. He was appointed State Trial Judge by Tennessee Governor Lamar Alexander in 1981 and served in that capacity until 1988, when he was elected to Congress. Congressman Duncan lives in Knoxville and is an Elder at Eastminster Presbyterian Church.
