At tonight’s Knox County School Board meeting, the Board recognized three members whose service will conclude after September 1, 2026.

Two races on Thursday’s ballot are the Fourth District, where incumbent Katherine Bike faces Republican Ashley Sartelle. In the Seventh District Republican Steve Triplett is being challenged by Democrat Amy Fenner. Voters will decide who will represent the Fourth and Seventh District for the next term on Thursday..

Former Knox County School Board Chair and Republican Sixth District member Betsy Henderson is the Republican nominee for Knox County Mayor in Thursday’s election. At the same time, Sixth District voters will choose her successor on the School Board, with Republican Lee Ann Eaves facing Democrat Cadance Collins.

Democratic First District Knox County School Board member Dr. John Butler was defeated in the May 5 primary. Voters will select his successor on Thursday, as Republican Charles Frazier faces Democrat Breyauna Holloway in the general election.

Knox County School Board Chair and Republican Ninth District representative Kristi Kristy was defeated in the May 5 Republican primary. Voters will choose her successor on Thursday, when Republican Bill Sofield faces Democrat Brandy Jenkins in the general election.

Henderson, Butler, and Kristy were each recognized and presented with awards for their service and dedication. South Knoxville supporters packed the room in a strong show of appreciation.
