On September 19, 2022 Knoxville Attorney Steve Weiner warned Knox County Commissioner at Large Seat 10 of the Constitutional effects from the Little Hatch Act to the First Amendment that the prohibition of political activity by Merit Council Board of Directors would have.

The Knox County Merit Council Board of Directors is expected to be asking that the political prohibition only pertain to the race of Knox County Sheriff. Weiner who ran a strong, low budget campaign to at Large Commissioner Seat 10 in the Republican Primary was apparently right. Watch the relevant exchange between Weiner and at Large Seat 10, here.
