On Thursday, April 10, 2025, the Tennessee House of Representatives honored the University of Memphis Athletic Department with a resolution recognizing its outstanding achievements.

Head coaches Penny Hardaway (men’s basketball), Alex Simmons (women’s basketball), and Ryan Silverfield (football) addressed the House floor, celebrating the Tigers’ historic 2024/25 seasons. 

Following the ceremony, the coaches met with Speaker Cameron Sexton in his office, highlighting the strong connection between Memphis athletics and state leadership.
