The Tennessee Valley Fair opened its gates on Friday, September 5, 2025, at 4:00 PM, welcoming visitors to Chilhowee Park for a celebration of community, agriculture, and entertainment. The day began with the Business and Government Leaders Lunch at noon, a key event that set an optimistic tone for the fair’s opening. Attendees enjoyed box lunches provided by Bearden Banquet Hall, fostering a sense of local pride and togetherness.
The keynote speaker, University of Tennessee President Randy Boyd, delivered an inspiring address that resonated with the crowd. His remarks highlighted the fair’s role in bringing the community together and celebrating the region’s heritage. Watch the remarks, here. The audience responded with strong support, reflecting widespread enthusiasm for the fair’s return.
Notably absent from the event was Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon. Her administration is currently navigating a controversial proposal to sell 12.7 acres of Chilhowee Park land, where the fair is held, for $900,000 or more. The absence sparked some discussion among attendees, given the land’s significance to the fair’s longstanding tradition.
Despite this, the fair’s opening was a success, with vibrant energy and excitement for the days ahead. The Tennessee Valley Fair continues to be a cherished event, drawing locals and visitors alike to celebrate the best of the region. The Fair is NOT just 10 days, here.
