Yesterday, the September Motley Crew Community Luncheon was held. Three days after the City of Knoxville Primary Election the lunch drew former Mayoral candidate Constance Every. The candidates present that are still running were City Councilwoman Amelia Parker, City Council candidate R Bentley Marlow, Knoxville Municipal Judge John Rosson, Jr. and his challenger Tyler Caviness. Also present were Councilwoman Janet Testerman (who has chosen to term limit herself).
2024 candidates were Jackie Raley, candidate for Assessor of Property, County Commission candidates DJ Corcoran and Barry Neal. Corcoran in the Northeast Knox County area of the Eighth District. Neal in South Knox County’s Ninth District. Karns community activist Julie McBee Fritts made news in announcing she will be a candidate for County Commission Sixth District. Presumably opposing Commissioner Terry Hill, who less than 4 hours before was chosen as the Chairman of the Knox County Commission by 9 of her Commission colleagues, 2 of the Commissioners passed on her election. Host Hubert Smith was absent as he suffered a fall and is recovering at NHC Farragut. His entourage of Bruce Damrow, Lee Willis, Ronnie Collins and others executed an excellent community gathering. It was also announced that Cameron Brooks, candidate for City Council had passed away in the early morning hours. Rev. Harold Middlebrook spoke briefly about Brooks.
