Today, Saturday, February 28, 2026, marks an exciting moment for conservative Republicans in Knox County as we welcome Betsy Henderson‘s bold campaign for Knox County Mayor to #TheMegaBulllhornofTruth!

Betsy Henderson, currently serving her second term as the Sixth District representative on the Knox County School Board—and having been elected Chair for two years—has chosen the path of courageous leadership over the comfortable status quo. Instead of pursuing the easier route of seeking re-election to the School Board (where her term ends August 31, 2026), she has stepped up to enter the Republican Primary for Knox County Mayor. This comes at a pivotal time: current Mayor Glenn Jacobs is term-limited and ineligible for re-election, opening the door for fresh, principled conservative leadership in our county.
Henderson’s record speaks volumes about her priorities and effectiveness. On the School Board, she and her colleagues have focused relentlessly on supporting our educators and staff by identifying efficiencies, eliminating wasteful spending, and bringing school employee salaries closer in line with comparable market rates in Knoxville and Knox County. These practical, results-driven moves ensure that taxpayer dollars go further to reward those who directly shape our children’s futures, rather than padding bureaucracy.
During the challenging days of the pandemic, Betsy Henderson emerged as a steadfast advocate for in-person instruction and the swift resumption of traditional school activities. She fought to keep schools open, opposed unnecessary mandates like masks, ensured police presence remained in schools for safety, and consistently championed parental rights and empowerment. Her fearless stance helped Knox County Schools prioritize students, families, and common-sense education over politics.
As a native East Tennessean, a University of Tennessee graduate, and a proud product of public schools herself, Betsy lives in Hardin Valley with her husband Scott and their two children. Her campaign emphasizes keeping taxes low, supporting smart and controlled growth, delivering world-class schools, maintaining strong public safety, and being a responsible steward of the county’s more than $1.1 billion budget.
In a crowded Republican primary field—including two Knox County Commissioners, Betsy stands out as a proven conservative fighter who has already delivered results in one of Tennessee’s largest school districts. She understands that leadership means making tough choices, cutting red tape, investing in core priorities like classrooms and roads, and putting hardworking families first.
Knox County is at a crossroads, and we need executive leadership that will protect taxpayers, control spending, and deliver real outcomes. Betsy Henderson’s experience as School Board Chair equips her to do just that on a county-wide scale.
