On Tuesday March 10, Noon is the filing deadline for the Thursday August 6, Primaries. TODAY, February 26, Lt. Governor Randy McNally announced he is retiring, from the Senate.
Obviously, Republican Leader Jack Johnson would be the favorite to become Lt. Governor if the Senate follows its current next in line leader..
as for Republican candidates to become Republican State Senate candidates in the Lt. Governor’s District 5, I can report former State Rep. Stacey Campfield picked up a petition, his home is in the district. FOrmer State Rep. Jimmy Matlock would be considered a strong contender coming from Loudon County. I’ve been told individuals are reaching out to State Rep. Rick Scarbrough.Second-generation insurance executive Lou Moran III is also a longtime Republican activist with deep roots in East Tennessee. Moran maintains homes in both Loudon, located in the district of Randy McNally, and Knoxville, which is represented in the State Senate by Becky Massey.
Obviously other notable possibilities are Lenoir City Mayor Tony Aikens, TN Republican State Executive Committeeman Tim Hutchison,
Lt. Governor Thank You for your service!
