At yesterday’s Knox County Ethics Committee Meeting, according to this Knox News Sentinel Story, only Fifth District County Commissioner John Schoonmaker was advocating that the lawyers for Thomas and Busler get an extended delay.

County Commissioner John Schoonmaker is a non-voting member of the committee. He defended the lawyers and said the committee should work with their schedules to make sure the commissioners had the opportunity to be represented by the counsel of their choice.

Was it because they are his colleagues? Or is he a supporter of Bob Thomas for Knox County Mayor. A simple drive by Schoonmaker’s home will reveal that he is FOR Thomas.

As a supporter of Thomas should Schoonmaker have recused himself from his non voting position on the ethics committee during discussion on his choice for Mayor?
